CLSV: New Trier State-Bound Again, Kirkpatrick Plays Hero
All-State girls basketball teams shared.
BOYS BASKETBALL
New Trier was dominant at times in a 65-41 Super-Sectional victory over Glenbard North at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates on Monday.
Soaring sophomore Christopher Kirkpatrick scored 22 points to lead the way.Â
Prior to that, New Trier was heroic for the second straight year in a sectional title game, as Kirkpatrick hit a game-winning 3-pointer to down conference foe Glenbrook North at Maine South.
The Trevians had defeated Loyola Academy 36-32 to get to the sectional final.

Glenbrook North competed at the President’sCup and picked up a handful of top 5 performances from Eli Cohen.

Evanston earned 2nd at the Red Devil Mark Wanner Invite with 142.700. Erik Van Leeer was 2nd in the all-around with a team sore of 53.200. He won the parallel bars, still rings and floor exercise.
GRAD CATCHUPSÂ
Glenbrook South graduate Nick Martinelli had a huge performance for Northwestern men’s basketball in a win over Maryland, scoring 27 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.Â
Deerfield graduate Lucas Willett was named Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week for Grinnell College.Â
Niles North grad Yogi Oliff was named a 2nd Team all-University Athletic Association pick for Washington University.

New Trier’s boys track and field team won the Cabin Fever Invitational, led by over a handful of medalist finishes and a 1st-place finish from William Landwer in the 60m hurdles (8.46 sec).
Maine South’s Conor Foley won the 800 meters at the event with a time of 1:58.52. The Hawks’ Owynn Garrelts won the 1,600 in 9:36.15.
Vernon Hills’ Anthony Martorano committed to Carroll for football.Â
Deerfield’s boys track and field 4x200 group of Pete Galanopoulos, Jonah Belden, Asher Siegel and Nathan Wolski broke the program’s indoor record with a time of 1:34.29.
