1-30 — Sidney Rogers, GBS girls basketball, 28 points in road win at Hersey.
1-31 — Josh Fridman, GBN boys basketball, 28 points in home win vs. GBS
2-1 – Betsy Alcorn, GBN girls gymnastics, 2nd in the all-around at the Libertyville regional. 1st in parallel bars and balance beam.
2-2 — Annika Chudy, Vernon Hills girls gymnastics, won the all-around at the Lake Forest regional. She was 1st in the vault, parallel bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
2-3 — Josh Wolf, GBS boys basketball, scored 35 points, including 9 3-pointers in a win over Niles West.
2-4 — Tyler Fortis, Maine South boys wrestling, won a 285-pound weight class regional title at Barrington as the Hawks won the team title.
BOYS WRESTLING
Regional Rundown
11 Deerfield Warriors advanced to sectionals and the Warriors won a 2A Vernon Hills Regional title with 231 team points. Vernon Hills took 4th as a team.
Winning individual titles were Luke Reddy (120), Jordan Rasof (126), Renzo Morgan (132), Charlie Cross (145), Will Holtz (152), Aiden Cohen (170)
Ilya Dvoryannikov (160) and Max Accettura (285) claimed titles for the Cougars.
Maine South sent 13 to sectionals and won the 3A Niles West regional. Taking home titles for the Hawks were Brett Harman (106), Christos Vaselopulos (113), Teddy Flores (120), Luke Morrison (126), Gavin Hoerr (132), Nate Beltran (145), Danny Spandiary (152), Sam Bartell (170), Tommy Porrello (195) and Tyler Fortis (285).
Glenbrook South took 4th at the 3A Fremd regional, New Trier was 5th, GBN earned 7th and Niles North was 8th.
Drew Duffy (285) won a regional title for the Titans.
Highland Park placed 6th at the Dundee Crown 3A regional. Nate Ferrari (132) and Dmitry Derbedyenyev (152).
GIRLS WRESTLING
CSL schools will compete at an Evanston sectional Friday and Saturday. Participating per trackwrestling.com are CSL schools Deerfield, Evanston, Highland Park, New Trier, Niles West, Vernon Hills. Any other schools competing from the conference were not listed on trackwrestling.com. Maine East’s Athletics Twitter account said Jessica Domain would be competing at Evanston. None of the District 207 schools (Maine West and Maine South) were listed on the site as participants.
GIRLS GYMNASTICS
Vernon Hills won the Lake Forest regional with a score of 147.0250 and took 2nd at the Libertyville sectional, with Annika Chudy the all-around winner.
New Trier won its home regional title.

Maine South will play at Deerfield Wednesday in a crossover game between each division’s two top squads. I’ll be in attendance.
Glenbrook South’s Sidney Rogers and Gina Davorija combined for 47 points in a 78-70 Titans win over Hersey. Davoirja also had a triple-double in a 54-46 win over Niles West, with 25 points, 11 steals, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
Evanston’s 68-58 win over New Trier Friday came in a thrilling contest. Sela Klein, injured late in the game, scored 20 for the Trevians. Arianna Milam-Pryor was on top of her game and scored 20 points. Zuri Ransom had 19 points, 7 steals and 6 rebounds per Dennis Mahoney.
Grace Koepke scored 27 in a Vernon Hills victory over Maine East.
BOYS BASKETBALL
10 Performances Of Note
New Trier’s Jake Fiegen scored 36 in a win over Lakeside Lutheran (WI). He also scored 18 in a road win at Evanston.
Hunter Duncan scored 16 Evanston’s loss to New Trier.
Ryan Cohen scored 19 in a Glenbrook North win over Glenbrook South. Nick Taylor posted 18 points in the loss.
Niles North’s Yaris Irby and Reid Olson scored 36 and 20, respectively in a 77-68 win over Vernon Hills.
Milan Raval scored 26 in a loss to Niles North.
Evanston’s Malachi Barrett was player of the game in a 66-64 Wildkits win over Glenbard West at Welsh Ryan Arena.
Niles West’s Davee Flowers scored 25 in a loss to Glenbrook South.
Maine East’s Tristan Walton put up 22 points in a loss to Maine East.
Deerfield’s Josh Barsky had a tam-high 19 points in a 67-49 win over Maine West.
Maine West’s David Hutchinson scored 19 vs. Deerfield.
New Trier’s Will Leemaster scored 16 in a win over North Chicago.
GIRLS BOWLING
Vernon Hills took 2nd at the Warren regional, led by Grace Funke’s series of 1,112.
Evanston was 3rd and New Trier took 4th at the Resurrection sectional. The Wildkits were led by Lilian Pavelec’s 1,132 series.Madeline Blake led the Trevians with a 1,050.
CHEER
Vernon Hills placed 7th in the medium class of the state cheer championships
BOYS SWIM & DIVE
Highland Park’s Noam Kulbak set a Vernon Hills pool record for a 6-dive meet, scoring a 337.90. Kevin Obochi and Daniel Castle each brought home two first-place finishes apiece as the Giants defeated the Cougars. Edward Zhao and Eli Spivak contributed 10 points apiece with each winning one event (100 Free and 200 Free, respectively).
In a dual between Glenbrook North and Maine South, the Spartans came out on top 104-84. Gabe Frank won two events for GBN, the 200 free and 100 fly. Maine South’s Dominic Mazurek did bring home the highest NISCA power points score after winning the 100 free and 50 free.

Dylan Cohen, Deerfield indoor T&F, won the 3,200 at the Jerry Lowe Invitational at Rockford Auburn in 10:03.46. Deerfield finished second as a team. He was the CSLV Fan Vote Player of The Week.
Evanston’s Erna Habibovic committed to Oakton for volleyball.
Maine South offensive lineman Spencer Dow (2023) committed to Old Dominion football.
Charlie Kremlin of Evanston football committed to Tufts University.
GRAD CATCH-UPS
Maine West graduate Rachel Kent passed 1,000 career points in college, doing so at her second school, IUPUI. She’s in her second season in Indianapolis after two seasons at Saint Louis.
Kent’s season-high scoring total this season is 30, accomplished in a Jan. 22 game vs. Oakland. She also knocked down 7 3-pointers in a Dec. 22 game vs. Northern Illinois. After 22 games, she was sitting at 12.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 3.5 apg.
Fellow Maine West graduate Allison Pearson also recently surpassed 1,000 career points for North Central College. She’s averaging 9.8 ppg and 3.6 rpg. This is her 5th collegiate season thanks to having a Covid season. She has averaged at least 6.6 ppg every season of college.

Glenbrook South graduate Nick Martinelli scored 6 points off the bench in a Northwestern win over Wisconsin Sunday. He has now played in 9 games for the Wildcats and had a season-high 9 points vs. Iowa last week.
