CALL FOR STATS
It would be really great to tally some of the conference leaders in statistics in as many sports as possible. You can send those statistics to my email at kalebcarter4256@gmail.com or shoot me a DM @CSL_Varsity on Twitter.
FOOTBALL
Maine West claimed its eighth-ever playoff berth with a 34-6 home win over Highland Park. The Warriors led 7-0 at half and put the pedal to the metal in the second half. Isaac Pittman led the way with 100+ yards, 2 TDs rushing and 2 defensive INTs. Pittman was voted Football Fan Vote Player of the Week on a @CSL_Varsity Twitter poll.
Maine South fended off a near-heroic effort from playoff-hopeful New Trier. The Hawks dashed the Trevians’ chances with a touchdown drive late in the 4th to tie the game and a Maurice Densmore TD (one of 2) on a reverse play. The Trevians fell just short of the playoffs.
Glenbrook North finished its season with a 28-7 victory over Niles West.
Vernon Hills shut out Maine East 47-0. After starting 0-6, the Cougars finished above .500 in conference play, shut out 2 of its last 3 opponents and scored at least 42 point in each of their last 3 games.
Deerfield blanked Niles North 42-0.

SOCCER
Niles North’s 2-1 OT regional final win at home over Taft brought some of the most exciting visual moments I’ve seen on my Twitter timeline from a CSL squad this season. The Vikings, the 4-seed, are set to play top-seed New Trier at Glenbrook South on Tuesday in a sectional semifinal.
New Trier defeated Glenbrook North 2-1 to set up the matchup with the Vikings.
In other regional final competition:
No. 2 seed Vernon Hills beat Harvard 2-1 to clinch a regional title. The Cougars will play Crystal Lake South at Grayslake Central on Wednesday.
Lane Tech defeated 2-seed Evanston 2-0 to win a regional title.
CROSS COUNTRY
Regional Highlights:
-The Maine South boys and girls both won regional titles at the 3A Jones Regional, with Joey Karlesky bringing home a regional title on the boys side for the Hawks.
-Ben Crane’s first-place finish (15:36.57) at Wheeling led New Trier to a 3A regional championship.
-Deerfield’s boys took 2nd as a team at the 2A Lakes regional.
I’m hoping to run a bit more on cross country before the state meet.
VOLLEYBALL
New Trier head coach Hannah Hsieh attained the 700-win mark recently, alongside assistant Katie Hielscher.
