10-15 — Amelia Stanek, Maine South girls tennis, wins a sectional title and qualified for state.

FOOTBALLÂ
NORTH
Maine West earned a hard-fought 14-3 home victory over Niles West to clinch a conference championship, with their last coming in 2019. The Wolves led 3-0 at half, but the Warriors responded in a big way in the second half.

Highland Park reached 5 wins for the first time sine 2017 with its 47-0 victory over Maine East. With the win, the Giants should be playoff-bound.
Vernon Hills defeated Niles North in an overtime thriller, 22-21.Â

SOUTH
Maine South won at Deerfield 49-17.
Glenbrook North claimed what had to be a satisfying 28-21 victory over Evanston, thanks to a 4-TD game from quarterback and multi-position standout Jack Philbin. He ran for 227 yards, passed for 79, and also had 8 tackles on defense.Â
Glenbrook South may not be heading to the playoffs, but they’re playing strong ball down the stretch. The Titans defeated New Trier 35-20.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Niles West is 8-0 in conference play and has lost just 2 sets.Â
New Trier is 7-0 in CSL competition and has lost just 2 sets. The Trevians also defeated the Wolves in 2 sets in tourney play on Oct. 6.
Deerfield ran its win streak to 13 matches and reached 25 wins by going 5-0 at the Grayslake North tourney.Â

GIRLS SWIM & DIVEÂ
Vernon Hills took down Niles North 125-61.
Evanston defeated Deerfield, but Isabella Wilhelm had a strong meet for the Warriors, winning the 50 free and 100 free with NISCA scores of 110 and 102, respectively.Â

Niles West defeated Mather 3-0 to open the possessor and will play New Trier next.

GIRLS TENNIS
Due to weather conditions, some sectors are yet to be finished and should wrap up Monday.Â
At the GBN Sectional, sectional doubles champions Julia Kononets and Camille Dziewonska helped lead the Spartans to a team title.Â
Deerfield’s Abigail Lee won the singles title.
At Maine South’s sectional, the Hawks took home a team title, led by Amelia Stanek winning the singles bracket.
Maine West’s doubles pair of Lilliam Dockal and Emily Halat won a doubles title for the Warriors.Â
Hoffman Estates hosted another sectional in which a CSL school grabbed the desired hardware. New Trier snagged the team title, with Madison Liu earning singles gold and the pairing of Keri Rothenberg and Ariane Lesterhuis came home with the doubles crown.Â

Ben Crane of New Trier took home the overall title in rainy, muddy conditions in 15:45.90. Maine South’s Owynn Garrelts earned 3rd overall, 2nd in the South.Â
Highland Park’s Brian Hatoum was 2nd overall, 1st in the North. Barak Goldstein was 5th overall, 3rd in the North for the Giants.Â
GBN’s John Ihrke took 7th overall, 4th in the South.
Deerfield’s Dylan Cohen earned 5th in the South, 8th overall.Â
Niles North’s Evan Parker was 2nd in the North meet (4th overall) and his teammate Ari Elmayan earned 4th (10th overall).Â
Vernon Hills’ top finisher was Bryant Lester, 9th overall.Â
GBS’ top finisher was Andy Ordway, 12th overall.
Evanston’s top finish came from Jack Kleinschmit, 16th overall
 Jude Grant was Niles West’s top finisher (29th).
Maine East’s best finish came from Luis Mendoza (32nd).Â
Gerardo Perez’s 62nd-place finish was tops for Maine West.Â
