Last week’s CSLV superlative winners for Sept. 4-10 were not included in a separate newsletter as I typically do.Â
Those winners were:
Team of the Week: Evanston girls tennis for winning the Waubonsie Valley invite (61.3% of vote)
Fan Vote POTW: Cristiano Hamer of Evanston boys soccer for notching a pair of hat tricks
Football POTW: Ben Cooper of Maine West, 12 tackles. 1 INT, 4 receptions for 104 yards in a win over Schaumburg.Â
POTW (as chosen by yours truly): Ben Crane of New Trier boys cross country after he took 2nd at First To The Finish at Detweiler Park in a time of 14:25.30.

9-11 — Quinn Graham, Niles North boys soccer, scored a goal in a 3-1 win over Fenwick. Recently had a 4-goal game.
9-12 — Tyler Ling, Vernon Hills boys soccer, game-winning goal in 2-1 win over Niles West.
9-14 — Miles Cremascoli, New Trier football, 11 catches, 212 yards, 1 INT and a rushing TD.Â
FOOTBALL
VICTORIOUS
Maine West stayed unbeaten by downing rival Elk Grove 28-10.Â
Niles West defeated Wheeling 42-7. The Wolves then went and cheered the Fighting Illini on Saturday.
DEFEATED
Glenbrook South’s brutal non-conference stretch in which of faced daunting competition each week came to a close with a 45-35 defeat to Prospect in which Nate Canning ran for 200 yards and had 4 rushing scores.Â
New Trier battled but fell 22-14 to a very strong Barrington team.Â

Highland Park kept up through halftime, but couldn’t slow Conant in the second half of a 64-34 defeat to the Cougars.

Mac Jones threw for 390 yards and 3 scores in bringing the Deerfield Warriors within 3 after trailing by 17, but the Rolling Meadows Mustangs prevailed 38-35.Â
Evanston couldn’t keep up against powerful Palatine in a 49-20 defeat.Â
Maine East fell at the hands of Schaumburg 43-7.
Hersey defeated Vernon Hills 67-0.

New Trier defeated Highland Park 292-70. Madelyn Ohr and Lindsey George had 4 goals apiece. The Trevian’ top NISCA score came from Ohr in the 100 Y Breast stroke with a 118 score thanks to her time of 1:06.34.
Evanston defeated Niles North 109-72.
Maine East competed at Hoffman Estates with Roxanne Lazanyi taking 2 golds and 2 silvers for the Blue Demons. Lazanyi was first in the 50 free in 27.54 seconds.

Maine South recorded a 3-1 win over Glenbrook South
Glenbrook North defeated New Trier 2-1.Â
Niles West notched an emphatic 3-0 victory vs. Highland Park.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRYÂ
Evanston earned 2nd at the Bill Dawson Invite at Warren, led by top 10 finishes by Jack Kleinschmit (7th), Sam From (8th) and Arber Bombaci (10th). Niles North’s Ari Elmayan was 4th and Evan Parker grabbed 5th. GBN’s John Ihrke took 3rd in 15:05.32. GBS’ Andy Ordway was 6th.Â
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Evanston was 3rd at the Dawson Invite and Maine South was 5th.
GBN’s Maria Polyakov won the event in 17:44.7, Stella Davis of Evanston was 2nd, Kaitlyn Burns of GBS took 3rd and Maine South’s Olivia DeLuca took 9th.Â

3 Big performance
NT’s Johnny Creamean shot a 34 in a win over the Warriors at Deerfield Golf Course. Deerfield’s Owen Moskovitz carded a 34 for co-medalist honors in a 141-151 Trevians victory.Â
Evanston handed GBN a 148-152 loss, led by Harrison Stracks’ 35 at Lake Bluff Golf Course.
Maine West earned its 10th victory of the season in defeating 161-172 W over Maine East. Tommy Kulesza and Logan Amar recorded dueling 39’s.Â

Laura Hu shot a 35 in a GBN win over Stevenson.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
5 Big wins:
New Trier defeated Glenbrook South 25-21, 25-20. Oliva Van kooten had 15 digs for the Titans.
Deerfield earned its 10th win with a 25-22. 26-24 victory against Maine South.Â
Niles West defeated Niles North 25-19, 25-21 with Amina Dervisevic recording 8 kills and 3 blocks for the Wolves.
Maine West defeated Maine East 25-15, 25-16. Safia Worden led the Blue Demons with 7 digs and Penelope Gumila totaled 14 assists.
Vernon Hills defeated Maine West 25-12, 25-22, led by 13 assists, 4 aces, 5 digs, while Morgan Hart had 7 kills, 3 blocks and aces.
GRAD CATCHUPS
Niles West graduate Jewell Loyd was named all-WNBA first team by the Associated Press. Loyd recently signed a contract extension with her squad, the Seattle Storm.
Deerfield graduate Charlie Jones scored his first NFL Touchdown with an 81-yard punt return in a 27-24 Cincinnati Bengals loss to the Baltimore Ravens.Â
