3-19 — Niles North girls soccer’s Addison Lockerby netted a hat trick. Highland Park baseball’s Luke Weber recorded 15 K’s in a shutout win over Zion-Benton.
3-20 — Ben Miller, Vernon Hills boys volleyball, 17 kills, 7 digs
The CSL Varsity Team of the Week for the week of March 10-17 is Deerfield boys tennis, which won 75% of the X/Twitter vote.Â
The CSL Varsity Athlete of the Week for March 10-16 is Niles North’s Addison Lockerby, who netted goals in a win over Amundsen and won 2 events (200 and 4x160) at the CSL North Girls Track and Field Invite.Â
No online vote this week, I’m just going to name the the award winners for March 18-24
Niles North boys volleyball won the Homewood-Flossmour tourney and started 7-0. They’re the CSLV Team of the Week for March 18-24

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Vernon Hills completed a runner-up finish at its combined tourney that was co-hosted by Barrington. The Cougars’ Ben Miller and Max Adkisson were named all-tournament. Glenbrook North’s Evan Uhlig also was named all-tourney.Â
Miller recorded 38 kills, 20 digs, 7 blocks and 6 aces in the 4 matches at the tournament.Â
Niles North won Homewood-Flossmoor’s tournament and has started the season 7-0.Â
Glenbrook South has started 3-0 after wins over St. Viator, Libertyville and Niles West. Will Elias tallied 10 kills and 6 digs.Â
Maine East won 3 matches at a home quad, defeating DePaul College Prep, St. Viator and Taft. Jainam Patel had 23 kills and Dylan Zuniga had 22. The Blue Demojns also defeated Leyden earlier in the week.Â
Highland Park’s Griffin Killeen had 12 kills in a loss to Evanston.Â
GIRLS SOCCER
Evanston is 4-0.
New Trier is 4-0
Deerfield is 4-0-1
Glenbrook South is 4-1
The Titans’ Chloe Beach netted 2 goals in a 4-1 win over Andrew. Sofia Summer netted 2 goals and Megan Murray recorded 2 assists in a 3-0 victory against Lemont.Â
Deerfield goalkeeper Lauren Gottlieb set the school record for shutouts in the net when she registered her 28th in a 6-0 victory over Round Lake.Â
Emily Hammond put home 2 goals in a 4-0 Vernon Hills victory over Grant.Â
Niles North’s Addison Lockerby recorded a hat trick in a 3-0 win vs. Fenwick.Â
Highland Park’s Emma Risko-Juarez scored 2 goals in a 2-0 win over Carmel. Noa Cooper assisted on both goals.Â
GIRLS LACROSSE
Glenbrook North won the first 2 games of new coach Michael Carr’s tenure and are now 2-1. Mimi Peifer had 3 goals in a 13-2 win vs. Vernon Hills.Â
New Trier handed Evanston a 16-7 defeat.
BOYS LACROSSE
Highland Park (39-28), Maine South (39-32), Glenbrook South (31-26), Deerfield (56-35) and New Trier (44-29) have positive goal differentials right now.
BOYS GYMNASTICSÂ
Evanston defeated Glenbrook South 147.10-122.30. Erik Van Leer had an all-around score over 53 in winning both of his competitions.
Deerfield (127.700) defeated Glenbrook North (121.400) and Highland Park (109.100). Deerfield’s top performer was all-around winner Chance Ferris (45.300). Highland Park’s best all-around mark came from Alex Gudgeon (39.400).
BASEBALL
Some performances of note:Â
Highland Park’s Luke Weber struck out 15 and allowed 4 hits in a 6-inning complete game victory over Zion-Benton.Â
Evanston went 3-1 in the initial weekend of an out-of-state trip.Â
Braden Grimm picked up a pitching win and had 2 hits in an 11-1 win over Bishop Canevin (Pennsylvania). Evan Teuer blasted a homer in the win.Â
Vernon Hills’ Connor Brockway notched 10 strikeouts in a 6-3 victory over Lincolnwood.
Glenbrook South’s Jamie Rasmussen went 2 for 4 with a triple in a 5-3 win over Stevenson. The Titans’ Decker Holton pitched 4 1/3 innings of scoreless, 1-hit 4K ball.Â
In an 8-4 Maine West win vs. Von Stueben, Ben Cooper was 3 for 3 and homered.Â
SOFTBALL

Maine West’s Kaitlyn Marsh struck out 13 batters in a 3-2 loss to Palatine.Â
Niles North’s Lucy Hibicke was 2 for 4 with a grand slam, a double and 5 RBIs in a 17-7 victory vs. Regina Dominican. She also pitched all 5 innings in the win.Â
BOYS INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Vernon Hills’ Charles Blackmer came home with the top placing finish among CSL boys or girls competitors at the Illinois Top Times event, running a 1:56.08 to take 2nd in the 800.Â
Highland Park’s Russell Czerwisnki came home with a 5th-place-tying mark of 6-4 in the high jump at the Illinois Top Times event. Lukaas Nales took 6th in the 400 with a time of 50.76, while teammate Nate Wehner was 5th in the 3,200 with a time of 9:26.76.
New Trier’s Tucker Anglemeyer was 5th in the 400 in 50.74
GIRLS INDOOR TRACK AND FIELDÂ
New Trier came home with medals from the Illinois Top Times event as well. The Trepan 4x400 relay of Smith, Manzano, Rivera and McConnell earned 4th in 4:02.62.
Gabriela Manzano was 3rd in the 400 (58.42) 4th in the triple jump (11.23m) 5th in the long jump (5.48m)
Niles North’s Briana Bolt earned 4th in the shot put with a heave of 11.92 meters.
Evanston’s Stella Davis grabbed 4th place in the 1,600 thanks to a time of 4:59.62.Â
Maine South’s Sofia Arcuri finished 5th in the 3,200 with a time of 10:57.98
GIRLS WATER POLO
Per Illpolo.com, Maine West’s Nicole Kaner deposited 4 goals into the net in a 15-4 victory over Rolling Meadows. The Warriors’ Maya Biela had 5 scores vs. Maine South in a 16-4 win.Â
Evanston is Illpolo.com’s top-ranked girls team at No. 5 as of March 19. New Trier is 6 and Maine West is. 8th.Â
BOYS WATER POLO
Evanston won the St. Patrick’s tourney , defeating Lane Tech for first, 10-7. Maine South defeated St.Patrick 8-3 for 3rd. Per Illpolo.com, Evanston’s Jonas Nissan netted 4 goals in a 15-8 win over Lake Forest. Per the same site, Bjorn Sievert converted 5 goals in an 11-4 victory vs. St. Patrick.Â
New Trier was Illpolo.com’s top-ranked team on March. 9, but that was before taking 4th at the York Tournament. Maine South was ranked 10th and Evanston 11th in the same rankings.Â
Deerfield emerged victorious in an 18-17 wild contest against Maine West.Â
BADMINTON
Vernon Hills won a tournament at Rolling Meadows, with their 1, 2, 4 and 6 doubles teams taking 1st.
GRAD CATCHUPSÂ
Highland Park graduate Addie Budnik scored 17 points, hitting 5 3-pointers for Richmond in an opening-round loss to Duke in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.Â
