Honors for Maine South wrestling and Glenbrook South girls basketball

The CSLV Team of the Week for the week of Jan. 15-21 is Maine South boys wrestling, which clinched the CSL boys dual title and won the CSL boys tournament. The Hawks took 47.4% of the vote.Â
The CSLV Fan Vote Player of the Week is GBS’ Gina Davorija, who had several big statistical outputs and garnered 36.8% of 133 votes to win the poll.Â
BOYS BOWLING
Glenbrook North finished 3rd in the state with 12,196 pins, led by top 10 finishes from Josh Sachs (2nd with 2,740 pins), Nick Sachs (6th) and Kai Nitzschke (8th).Â
Evanston freshman Anthony Swanson took 13th, per ETHS, the highest finish for a boys bowler at state.Â

GIRLS GYMNASTICSÂ
Glenbrook North won the CSL South title at the conference meet, tying New Trier, which won the regular season championship.Â
Izzy Gott is the vault champ with a 9.500.Â
New Trier’s Clara Cossgrove was the all-around champion with a score of 36.675 after winning the floor (9.500) and bars (9.525).
Maine South’s Anastasia Gritsonis took the beam honors with a 9.400.

Vernon Hills soared past the CSL North field at the conference meet with a score of 146.250.Â
The Cougars had the top 4 all-around finishers with Livy Tran (37.550), Annika Chuddy (37.300), Mya Brusso (36.825) and Christina Raquel (33.050) paving the way.Â

Glenbrook North’s Josh Fridman reached 1,000 career points.Â
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times detailed the Evanston-Maine South girls basketball game.
The Hawks clinched the CSL South with the win.
Junior Gina Davorija of Glenbrook South reached a milestone with 1,000 career points recently.Â
Evanston nearly handed Loyola Academy its first loss of the year, falling narrowly on a buzzer-beater, 65-63.
BOYS SWIM & DIVE
DANCE
Vernon Hills wrapped up a 5th-place finish in 2A with a score of 90.77. Deerfield wasn’t far behind, earning 8th in 2A. Maine South was 8th in 3A.
