CSLV: Football Underway; Vernon Hills Girls XC Grabs Win
CSL Football goes even .500 in non-conference action.
OF NOTEÂ
Personal pause: I’ve been operating on fumes for a minute, having recently had my car go down on the Skyway (R.I.P. 2002 Lexus with 230,000 miles). I also had my bike stolen by someone cutting through my admittedly too flimsy bike lock chain. I have become one with the Metra consiting of trips from Rogers Park to Highwood/Highland Park and back... So, unfortunately, don’t expect me at many CSL events anytime soon.Â
On another unfortunate note:
One of my all-time favorite wrestlers, Bray Wyatt, died unexpectedly this week. As much as I enjoy sports, there have been portions of my life where professional wrestling/sports entertainment, meant even more to me than sports did. His WWE Title win at Elimination Chamber in 2017 brought tears to my eyes. His Fiend/Firefly Funhouse personas were some of my favorite pre-produced segments I’ve ever seen on WWE television. He was also, as you may have guessed, an athlete. I’ll always be one of his fireflies.
Switching gears…
TEAM OF THE WEEK is now a fan vote. Check it out on Twitter/X.Â

Much of what makes sports great is silly or simple traditions. Love this.
