CSLV: Girls Conference Track & Field Winners: Tennis Success

#CSLStar honorees from last week:
4-29 — Molly McAnally, Glenbrook North softball, went 4 for 5 with a homers, 3 runs and 2 RBI in a win over New Trier.
4-30 — Max Campos, Niles North baseball, 2 for 4 with a grand slam and 5 RBIs in a win over Maine West.
Max Kaplan, New Trier baseball, 6 IP, 4 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 0R in a win over Maine South.
5-1 — Lejla Maljevic, Evanston girls track and field, won the shot put (10.24m), discus (32.69) and was on the winning 4x200 at the CSL South Conference meet.
5-2 — Allison Endres, Glenbrook North girls badminton, sectional champ in singles at GBN sectional.
5-3 — Kris Blumberg, GBS boys volleyball, 12 kills and 12 digs in a victory against Loyola.
Some top performances from last week:
Kaitlyn Marsh of Maine West softball threw a 15-strikeout no-hitter in a win over Maine East.
New Trier’s Francesco Youkhana now owns the 2nd best shot put mark in the conference after throwing 16.23m this past week. Maine East’s Roman Wolanin owns the best mark at 16.56m.
GBS boys track and field’s Tyrone Cotton hit a long jump PR of 6.60mand a high jump PR of 1.96m to win the events on his home track at the Titan Invite. Cotton also was on the 2nd-place 4x200.
Niles North’s Ari Elmayan became one of the latest sub-2 minute 800 runners in the CSL, finishing 2nd in 1:58 at the Titan Invite.
Deerfield boys tennis’ No. 1 doubles duo of Noah Katz and Josh Koyfman took 1st at the Prospect Knights Invite, leading the Warriors to a 2nd consecutive title at the event.
Emma Risko-Juarez of Highland Park girls soccer had a hat trick and an assist in a win over Maine East.
Bryce Drexler of Vernon Hills boys lacrosse scored 5 goals and had 2 assists in a 13-4 win over Jacobs.
Oliva Pukal of Niles West softball hit a 2-run homer in an 11-8 Wolves win over Vernon Hills.
Evanston boys water polo’s Henry Chapon scored 5 goals and added an assist in an 11-1 win over Maine South.
New Trier girls lacrosse’s Claire Ratke dished out 7 assists and deposited 2 goals as the Trevians beat St. Ignatius 19-8.
Maine West girls water polo’s Lauren Capper netted 4 gals in a 13-4 victory vs. district rival Maine East.
TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Maine West girls water polo claimed its 7th consecutive CSL North title (per Dion Martorano of Journal & Topics Media Group) and Maine West boys water polo won the CSL North.
New Trier boys water polo claimed yet another CSL South title, while Evanston’s girls water polo team grabbed South trophy.
Evanston’s girls soccer team claimed a 3rd straight CSL South title when it defeated Deerfield 3-0.
Niles North girls soccer finished an unbeaten CSL North run to claim a division championship (CSL North champions).
GRAD CATCHUPS
Evanston grad Rikki Gray played a part in the Chicago State women’ track and field team’s record-breaking 4x100 time of 46.03 on May 3.

Evanston’s Morgan Brown committed to Christian Brothers University for men’s basketball.
GBN’s Nick Jukovich committed to Florida Institute of Technology for baseball.
Glenbrook South’s Ann Kotsadam earned her 100th win as the Titans boys volleyball coach.
Highland Park’s boys track and field team set a new school record in the 4x800, when the group of Nate Wehner, Robert Oboza, Zachary Coren and Barak Goldstein ran current Illinois No. 1 time of 7:54.50.
Grace Welhouse of Highland Park girls track and field broke the school 100 hurdles record with a time of 15.81 at the Lake County Invite.
Highland Park baseball’s Shamar Wilson broke the school’s stolen base record when he stole his 30th base of the season. Sam Van Cleve owned the record previously.
Maine South girls track and field’s 4x400 relay of Josie Hennes, Sarah Mendoza, Lauren Marogil and Sofia Arcuri broke the school record in a time of 4:01.63 at the CSL South Conference meet.
