CSLV: Golf and Cross Country Standouts Aplenty

CSL STANDOUTSÂ
New Trier's Grace Leber's score of 70 was good enough for Glenbrook South regional medalist honors as she led the Trevians to 3rd place as a team at the regional. Glenbrook North took 2nd with a team score of 309, led by Kacie Moon and Alexis Myers' dueling 74s. Deerfield was led by Emiko Chichester's 80. The Trevians and Spartans qualified for the sectional as a team.Â
Niles West's Arianna Jaramillo earned 4th at Mt. Prospect's regional with an 84.Â
At Loyola Academy's 3A Boys Golf Regional, Evanston won the team title (301) and freshman Lester Low was the medalist with a 73. New Trier also advanced as a team led by Liam Kelly's 74. Niles North's Noah Ishay qualified for the sectional as an individual thanks to a score of 82.Â
At the Warren 3A Golf Regional, Cole Rosenbloom (HP) and Hunter Whitney (DF) each posted a 77, for the top scores from CSL golfers at the event. Vernon Hills was the top CSL team there and advanced to the sectional thanks to a 3rd-place score of 327.Â
Glenbrook South and Glenbrook North brought home hardware as the top 2 teams at Maine South's 3A Boys Golf regional. The Titans' Lucas Shin earned medalist distinction by carding a 70. The Titans shot a 295 and the Spartans, led by Alex Lee's 72, shot a 303. Jiro Yamat of Maine East (75) and Jack Zone (77) of Maine South led their respective teams in qualifying for sectionals as individuals.Â
Maine East boys soccer’s Yousif Atia deposited 3 goals into the net in a 5-1 Blue Demons victory vs. Deerfield.
Glenbrook South boys soccer’s Chris Vazquez had a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win over Loyola Academy.Â
New Trier’s Ben Crane took 4th out of 429 runners at the 5,000 meter Nike XC Town Twilight Race of Champions race at Laverne Gibson Course in Indiana, finishing in a time of 14:49.62.
Maine South boys cross country’s Owynn Garrelts took 16th in 15:27.00 at the Peoria High School Invitational at Detweiller Park. Maine South earned 5th as a team. At the same race, Glenbrook South’s Jack Lyons was 40th (15:53.30), Glenbrook North’s Hayato Majoros earned 45th (15:58.30) and Maine East’s Luis Mendoza was 47th (15:59.70).Â
Evanston boys cross country’s Emir Arber Bombaci was the top CSL boys finisher in the varsity race at Niles West’s Pat Savage Invitational, finishing in 15:31.04. Deerfield’s Jamie Chandler had a better time running in the varsity white race, taking 4th in 15:17.5.
Vernon Hills girls cross country’s Jori Ellen was the top CSL girls finisher in the varsity race at the Pat Savage invite (18:44.97).
CSL runners took the top 3 spots in the girls race at the Peoria Invitational at Detweiller Park, with Evanston’s Davis (Player of the Week) winning the race, Maine South’s Sofia Arcuri (2nd) finishing in 17:52.80 and GBN’s Nicole Golebiowski (3rd) completing her race in 17:57.20. Maine South finished 3rd as. Team out of 31 in the race.Â
Glenbrook North girls volleyball’s Morgan Choi recorded 18 digs and 2 aces in a 3-set victory over Rolling Meadows.Â
Vernon Hills flag football’s Keira Thomas now has 7 interceptions.
Maine South’s Kayla Kremins has 77 tackles (flag pulls) according to MaxPreps. Aribella Spandiary has thrown for over 4,000 yards and has 55 touchdown passes.

Glenbrook North graduate Jackson Carsello started for the first time on the offensive line for Northwestern football in a loss to Indiana.
Evanston graduate Ryann Lucas netted 2 goals for Fordham women’s soccer in a 3-1 conference win over Duquesne.Â
Evanston graduate Caden Hardy was honored as MAAC men’s swimmer of the week for Marist.
Niles West graduate Emir Heto has started 7 games for the Triton College men’s soccer team. He recently scored 2 goals in a Triton victory over Milwaukee Area Tech.

Maine South won the CSL girls flag football championship and defeated Vernon Hills in the crossover title game, 30-0. The Hawks are now 18-1, with their lone loss coming to Glenbrook North (16-14).
