FOOTBALL
RESULTS
Maine South beat New Trier 50-3
Niles West won a Skokie Skirmish, defeating Niles North 38-6.
Maine West was able to hold off Highland Park’s 2-pt. attempt late and won 20-19 to stay unbeaten. The Warriors have also qualified for the playoffs with their fifth victory.
Deerfield is 1-0 in the South after a 28-14 victory vs. GBN.
GBS came back from a 2-score deficit to defeat Evanston 42-33. The Titans’ Nate Canning ran for a school reocd 6 touchdowns and 281 yards and also had a sack on defense. Colin Livatino broke the Evanston school passing record with 406 yards through the air and added 4 touchdowns.
Vernon Hills defeated Maine East 24-6
BOYS SOCCERÂ
Niles North defeated Shepard 3-0 to win a title at the BodyArmor Series. The Vikings are now 13-2, largely thanks to the prolific goal-scoring abilities of Quinn Graham and a defense that has yielded just 14 goals this season. The Vikings clinched the CSL North title and can claim an unbeaten North run with a win vs. HP Tuesday.Â
New Trier at 10-1-2 picked up a 1-0 win over Wisconsin power Whitefish Bay over the weekend.
The CSL South race got a little wonky with Evanston losing to New Trier last week 3-2, after having previously haven beaten GBN (2-1 on Sept. 14) GBN holds a 2-1 victory over the Trevians on Sept. 11.
With the ‘Kits and Spartans sitting at 3-1 in CSL South play and the Trevians at 2-11, any could lay claim to a tie, while Evanston and GBN could either win an outright title. New Trier needs to defeat GBS and have Evanston tie Maine South and GBN tie Deerfield in order for there to be a 3-way tie atop the division.
GBN can win the South with a victory and an Evanston loss, and the reverse is the case for the Wildkits.

DID YOU SEE?
Flag Football games got underway for CSL teams, with 9 of the conferences’ 12 teams broken up into a trio of 3-team pools.
Saturday, I officiated Deerfield at Evanston in a fun, albeit new environment. Evanston won 30-6. Yours truly was plugged in late and showed up with a whistle but no zebra-reminiscent shirt or black shorts. It was very apparent both from the officials’ point-of-view and the coaches/players new to games that learning and basking in the fun are the most important parts to getting girls flag football further off the ground.
If you want to help accelerate the growth of girls flag football, ask the athletic directors‘s office at your local CSL school how to help with officiating or gameday assistance!Â
Here’s the first touchdown in program history for GBS Girls flag football.
