GIRLS BASKETBALL
In a chaotic final league-play night for the CSL North, Maine West and Highland Park each earned victories to earn a divisional share in terms of the standings, with both sitting at 7-3. Maine West grabbed the tiebreaker for bragging rights and the advantage for the CSL crossover, so the Warriors will play Maine South in that end-of-season contest.Â
Highland Park defeated Niles North 48-39 and Maine West overcame an 18-point deficit to Niles West 50-43 to ensure the North hardware came back to Des Plaines. Â
Niles West and Vernon Hills had a chance to tie the standings up, but the former, as mentioned, lost to Maine West and the Cougars fell to Maine East behind a 31-point performance from freshman Arabella Silva.
Evanston’s Kailey Starks had a big week, posting big stat lines including 26 points vs. Whitney Young and 28 in a win over New Trier. She also reached 1,000 points.
Maine South defeated Glenbrook North 52-43 to secure a perfect CSL South slate.Â
Maine East’s Mariah Scott had a 30-point, 13-rebound game in a defeat of Fenton.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Niles North recognized Yaris Irby and Reid Olson for recently reaching 1,000 points I their respective careers.Â
Hunter Gawron also scored 30 in a game for the Vikings.

Vernon Hills’ Deen Hatibovic notched 24 points, 10 rebounds in a 66-47 Cougars win vs. Maine East.Â
GIRLS GYMNASTICSÂ
Vernon Hills won a team regional championship in its home gym, with a team score of 145.300.Â
