Lineman Challenge
Pull a golf cart with a rope tied around your waist?
CSL Linemen did that and more at Glenbrook North High School Friday morning. I was there with Highland Park football and caught some photos and video from the event. You can see the video of HP, here.
CSL North newcomer Niles West took 1st. New Trier was 2nd. Glenbrook North took 3rd.
Some Summer Standouts
Sam Lappin (2024), GBN boys basketball, having an excellent summer for ALL IN Elite
Adolfo Lopez (2025), Maine East baseball, swinging a strong bat for Top Tier North travel team
Ben Cooper (2024), Maine West football, committed to play at Illinois State.
Braden Grimm (2024), Evanston baseball, touching as high as 88 mph on his fastball per his Illinois Travel Baseball Club.
Sela Klein (2024), New Trier girls basketball, was quite impressed with what I saw from her running the floor and creating on offense at the Maine West summer league.
Tre Himes (2024), Maine East, the new Blue Demon, a transfer from Maine West, has a slick game and will make the Blue Demons even more of a threat in the CSL North this winter.
Aidan Sebastian, Niles West football, the 2023 CSL South shot out champion for Wolves track and field, has the Wolves looking plenty ready to take on some new foes in the CSL North this season.
Gina Davorija (2025), Glenbrook South girls basketball, the highly athletic guard pays both sides of the ball well. She recently secured an offer from Bradley University.
Tyler Fortis (2025), Maine South football, the big fella has been going to camps and showcases this summer and has opened more than a few eyes. Watch out area offensive lines this season.
Nick Taylor (2024), Glenbrook South boys basketball, the 6-7 athletic forward has become a bonafide star this summer and recently received his first D1 scholarship offer from Incarnate Word.
Molly McAnally (2026) Glenbrook North softball, the catcher/infielder wields a bat beyond her years and has shown versatility in the field. Plays summer ball with Chicago Cheetahs.
IN THE POOL & CLASSROOM
Maine West girls water polo was recognized by the NISCA/Swim Outlet.com for having one of the top team G.P.A.’s in the country for a water polo or swim & dive team, 3.918. New Trier girls swim & dive wasn’t far behind with a 3.903.
The following Boys CSL athletes earned NISCA All-American distinction for their performances this season. (I will attempt to get the girls honorees in next week.)

GRAD CATCH-UPS
Niles West grad Jewell Loyd has had a remarkable run the last week or so, tying a Seattle Storm franchise record with 9 made 3’s in a game and then scored a WNBA All-Star Game record 31 points, including 10 made 3-pointers. She was named MVP of the game.
The new University of Illinois-Springfield head baseball coach is Evanston graduate Trevor Forde.
