CSLV: Maine South Wins Hawk Relays; GBN Conference Bowling Champs
GBN and Vernon Hills' Chung pick up weekly honors.

BOYS BOWLING
Glenbrook North, CSL champs in the regular season, won the conference tournament championship with 6,317 pins to runner-up Vernon Hills’ 6,234.
Kai Nitzscke was the individual champion, knocking down 1,394 pins.
GIRLS BOWLING
Lily Pavelec rolled a 605 series in a 2716-2691 Evanston win over Resurrection.
GIRLS GYMNASTICSÂ
New Trier finished 3rd and Vernon Hills was 5th at the Straus Invitational.
For the Trevians, Clara Cossgrove took top honors in the bars (9.450). She took 9th in the all-around zÂ
For VH, Livy Tran was 2nd in the floor exercise and 3rd in the vault. Tran took 4th in the all-around. Mya Brusso was 7th in the all-around.Â
Glenbrook South won the Evanston Invite with a team score of 131.475, defeating runner-up Maine South, who tied with Stevenson with scores of 128.225.
Allie Mietus (GBS) won the all-around (36.500) thanks largely to her winning vault of 9.400, winning beam of 9.15 and winning bars of 9.50.Â
Ella Eovaldi of Evanston earned 2nd in the all-around (34.150) and won the floor exercise (8.85).
Anastasia Gritsonis was 2nd for the Hawks in the vault and floor exercise. Katie Savicki brought home 2nd in the bars for the Hawks.Â
SWIM & DIVE
New Trier’s Aiden Musick had the top NISCA score (119) for an event in a win for the Trevians over Evanston, recording a 100 free time of 47.27 in the 100 free.Â
New Trier also won the Evanston Invite, with Musick taking golds in the 100 fly (50.76) and 200 free (1:42.28).Â
The Trevians won the 200 medley as well.
Maine South won its home Hawk Relays.
The Hawks took 1st in the 200 medley relay (1:37.76), 200 relay (1:40.86), 500 free relay (4:44.85), 400 medley relay (3:49.57).Â
Graham Arteta’s 388.25 in the dive won the event.Â
GIRLS WRESTLINGÂ
New Trier’s Jillian Giller finished 1st in the 140A bracket at the Conant Invite, winning three matches by fall.Â
Also at Conant:
Kennedy Murray of Evanston was 2nd at 145A
Zoe Pemeranets of Niles West was 3rd at 110A
BOYS WRESTLING
Highland Park’s Dmitry Derbedyenyev was named Outstanding Wrestler at Leyden’s Randy Conrad Invite. He went 3-0, and finished with a 9-1 major decision victory over Mike Taheney of Richards in the final.
Glenbrook North picked up a notable 40-39 dual win over New Trier.Â
GBN then finished 6th at Geneva’s tournament, led by a 1st-place finish by heavyweight Cray Paich.Â
Niles North stayed unbeaten (4-0) in the CSL North with a 53-24 win over Maine West. North can claim an outright CSL North dual title this week with a win over Vernon Hills.Â
BOYS BASKETBALL
A few big performancesÂ
Anestis Hadjistamoulou, GBS, 24 points in 67-55 win vs. DeKalb.Â
Tristan Walton, Maine East, 26 points in an 88-70 loss to Niles North.Â
Yaris Irby/Hunter Gawron, Niles North, 30 and 27 points respectively in a win over Maine East.Â
Glenbrook North improved to 5-0 in the CSL South with a 38-34 victory against New Trier.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

-Sela Klein, New Trier, 29 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists in a 63-57 win over Hinsdale Central.Â
-Kate Trella, Deerfield, 17 points, 8 rebounds, 8 blocks, 5 steals, 4 assists in a 53-50 loss to Niles West.
-Arabella Silva, Maine East, scored 25 in a 50-32 loss to Normal.
-Kailey Starks, Evanston, 28 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals in a 68-59 loss to Montini . She also scored 31 with 7 reounds in another game.
-Gina Davorija, GBS, 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks in a 45-40 win over Evanston.
-Katie Daly, Niles West, 23 points in a 53-50 victory vs. Deerfield

GRAD CATCH-UPS
Glenbrook South Class or 2023 grad Sidney Rogers scored 15 points and had 5 rebounds in a 79-69 Washington (St. Louis) victory over the University of Chicago.Â
Kamau Ransom, a Class of 2022 Evanston grad, is transferring from the University of Indianapolis to Southwest Baptist University for football.Â
