Player of the Week
It’s not the first time, but Jake Fiegen earned his distinction as CSL Varsity Newsletter Player of the Week again. Fiegen led his team to close wins over Glenbrook South, Glenbrook North and Libertyville over a span of 7 days.
BOYS BASKETBALL
New Trier defeated Libertyville in a super-sectional at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates on Monday 54-46, to move the boys basketball to the state semis for the first time since 2002. The Trevians had to pull out close one-possession wins over Glenbrook North (47-46) and Glenbrook South (42-40) to get there.
Fiegen, the Player of The Week, scored 17 points and shut down Libertyville’s Aidyn Boone. He also scored 19 vs. GBN and 15 vs. GBS, as the Trevians now have a school-record 32 wins. The Cornell commit also became New Trier’s leading scorer in program history. Credit to The Record North Shore’s Joe Coughlin for several of the facts listed above.
Fiegen also was named to the Chicago Sun-Times’ All-area team.
The Trevians are set to face 4A favorite Benet Academy Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Champaign.
