STATE SWIM & DIVE
Deerfield star swimmer Annika Parkhe claimed a pair of state titles, winning the 100 free (48.47, 0.13 seconds off IHSA record) and 100 backstroke (54.40). She set the pool record in the backstroke (52.94) in prelims. The Warriors’ Erika Ilkiu was 6th in the 100 breast in 1:03.47. Parkhe, Illkiu, Sarah Wang and Isabella Wilhelm made up the 6th-place 200 medley relay.
The Warriors also earned 8th in the 200 free relay.Â

New Trier took 2nd in the state at this past weekend’s state championships at FMC Atatorium in Westmont.Â
The 200 medley relay of Marin Shimkus, Madelyn Ohr, Zara Bolton, & Megan Marquardt brought home 1st-place hardware thanks to their winning time of 1:42.04.
The 200 free relay of Elyse Newlands, Marquardt, Bolton and Maeve O’Donnell earned 4th in the freestyle relay.
Zara Bolton was 3rd in 100 fly 54.38.
The 400 free relay of Bolton, Marquardt, Shimkus and O’Donnell was state runner-up.Â
Marin Shimkus, 3rd place, 100 breast (55.02), 3rd in 100 backstroke in 55.02, and 8th place in 50 free in 23.63
Maeve O’Donnell, 3rd in 50 free in 23.29 and 5th in 100 free, 50.57.Â
Maine South’s Sarah Juiris was 4th in the 50 free in 23.38. Her prelim time of 23.31 in the event is a new school record.Â
Highland Park’s Brooke Eliacin earned 5th in the 100 breast in 103.33.
Vernon Hills’ Livy Tran was 9th in diving.Â
Niles West’s Stephanie Avram was 6th in diving with a score of 451.10.
FOOTBALL
Maine South fought to the end in a season-conceding 42-40 loss to unbeaten Barrington in the 8A quarters Saturday at Barrington. Hawks quarterback Constantine Coines passed for 449 yards. Evan Agosto had 185 receiving yards with 2 TDs.Â

BOWLINGÂ
The Glenbrook North boys bowling team won the Lake Park Invite behind Josh Sachs’ 4th-place finish and Kai Nitzchke’s 8th-place result. They also won a dual with Evanston 3,345 to 3,125.Â
Vernon Hills finished 4th at the event, led by Zach Shoemaker, who had a score of 1,328 (high game of 279). Scott Wolfe was 10th for the Cougars.Â

GRAD CATCH-UPS
New Trier class of 2021 graduate Liv Becker scored totals of 18 and 10 as the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds women’s basketball team lost its first two games.Â
Glenbrook South class of 2023 grad RJ Davis knocked down 6 3-pointers and had 5 rebounds for Southwestern Michigan College in a win over Bethel University JV. Evanston grad Prince Adams scored 12 with 4 assists in the game for SMC.Â
Class of 2022 Maine South standout Emily Pape scored 29 with 6 rebounds in an 80-77 Cornell win over SIU.
First college basket for Class of 2023 New Trier hooper Jake Fiegen at Cornell.
Deerfield graduate Ryan Grady, a goalkeeper for Middlebury College, was named NESCAC Defensive Player of The Year.
Justin St. Louis, a Vernon Hills grad, hit a game-winning 3-pointer in a 60-58 College of Lake County win over Wilbur Wright College.Â
