CSLV: Pair of Titans Honored; Football Standings Taking Shape

Glenbrook South boys golf’s Kevin Schuh is a sectional champion and is the CSLV Player of the Week. More on his exploits below in the standouts section.Â
TEAM OF THE WEEK (Oct. 7-13)
Glenbrook South won the 47th Annual Wheeling Wildcat Invite after Cole Branstrom (2nd), Jack Lyons (4th) Spencer Rudolph (7th) and a litany of other Titans finished in spots 10 through 14 as the Titans bested a field of7 other teams.Â
CSL STANDOUTSÂ
Glenbrook North’s Alexis Myers and Martha Kuwahara recorded a 67 and a 69 to earn 3rd and 6, respectively as GBN won its home 2A Sectional golf championship with a team score of 285.
New Trier girls golf’s Grace Leber (score of 69) and Glenbrook South’s Sonam Konanahalli advanced to state by shooting a 75.
Evanston boys golf’s Lester Low shot a 68 to take 2nd individually as the Wildkits won the 3A Glenbrook North sectional with a team score of 282.Â
Kevin Schuh carded a 67 to take home individual title honors for GBS at the GBN sectional.
Evanston, New Trier and Glenbrook South will all represent the CSL in boys golf at state. Alex Lee (71 for GBN), Adam Drabek (73 for Maine South) and Jack Zone (74 for Maine South) each will go as individuals.
Highland Park football’s JT Killeen had 3 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, a pass breakup on Niles West’s final drive and 4 receptions for 41 yards in the Giants’ first win of the season.Â
New Trier’s Declan O’Meara recorded 101 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns in a win over GBN.Â
Glenbrook South boys cross country’s Cole Branstrom finished in 2nd place at the Wheeling Wildcat Cross Country Invite thanks to his time of 16:17.62. The Titans took home the varsity team win. Maine West’s top finisher at the same race was Mozart Ontiveros who was 17th in 17:15.35. On the girls side at the same race, Maine East’s Ashley Gaba was 14th in 19:47.46.
Deerfield’s Hunter Whitney tied for 1st with a 70 at the 2A Jacobs Boys Golf Sectional and advanced to state.
Glenbrook South boys soccer’s Jacob Ciszyk posted 2 goals and 2 assists in a win over Maine West.
Niles West girls volleyball’s Megan Burke totaled 13 kills and 2 aces in a win over Maine West.
Vernon Hills girls volleyball’s Alyssa Kopanytsa posted 14 assists and 2 blocks as the Cougars defeated Maine East.
Deerfield girls tennis’ Caroline Shi notched a No. 1 singles win against Maine South.

New Trier defeated Resurrection in girls flag football 22-12 to win a regional title.
Evanston flag beat Maine South 20-8 and Glenbrook South defeated Prospect 12-6 as the two set up a Tuesday matchup at Rockne in a sectional semifinal matchup.
