4-15 — Kelsey Howard, Niles North baseball, 5 for 5 with a double, 3 RBIs, 2 runs and 2 stolen bases in a win over Maine South.Â
4-16 — Addison Lockerby, Niles North girls soccer, 5 goals in a 5-0 win ver Maine West.Â
4-17 — Lauren Nicgorski, Glenbrook South softball, 14 strikeouts in a shutout win over Maine East.
4-18 — Hannah Hoffman, Maine South softball, 5 for 5 at the plate and earned the win in the circle as the Hawks defeated Deerfield-Highland Park.Â
4-19 — Amelie Mach, Maine West girls track and field, won long jump (5.15m), high jump (1.62m), 300 hurdles (48.29) and was 3rd in the 100 hurdles (17.34) at the GBS Girls Titan Invite.

Here are a dozen top performances of note from last week:
Julianne Oliva of Vernon Hills girls water polo 4 goals, an assist and 4 steals in a 12-8 win over St. Charles East, 4 goals, 2 assists in an 18-4 win over Warren, 4 goals, 2 assists in a 9-7 victory vs. Taft.Â
Maine West boys volleyball’s Alex Tudor made the all-tournaent team at the Palatine/Schaumburg Invite. He had 5 digs vs. Waubonsie Valley, 5 kills and 4 digs vs. Palatine, 5 kills and 6 digs vs. Prospect.Â
Niles North girls track and field’s Briana Bolt recorded a shot put personal best of 12.04 meters in the Vikings home meet this past week. She also PR’d in discus (27.41). That mark is 9th in the state per Athletic.net as of Sunday.Â
Niles West girls track and field’s Carissa Uy had quite the day at Glenbard East. Uy set a triple jump PR of 10.66m to win the event, won the long jump (4.89m) and took 4th in the 100 meters (13.35).Â
New Trier boys track and field’s Conlin Spillane recorded a long jump of 6.61 meters for a PR at Minooka, was on the 2nd-place 4x100 relay and was 5th with a PR in the 100 with a time of 11.62.Â
A number of athletes from the CSL competed at Palatine Distance Night, with GBN’s John Ihrke bringing home a 2nd-place medal to Northbrook in the Section 4 Main Event of the 800 meters after finishing in 1:55.86.Â
Glenbrook South girls soccer’s Olivia Ollmert smashed 2 goals into the back of the net in a 2-1 win over Normal Community. The Titans also defeated Deerfield (1-0) and had a scoreless draw vs. GBN. Lyndsey Mack and Mikayla Morse led the way in the net for the Titans, doing so as well in a 1-0 win over Deerfield.
Deerfield girls soccer’s Lauren Gottlieb registered her 33rd career shutout in the net for the Warriors.
New Trier girls soccer’s Annie Paden, a defensive midfielder, assisted on 2 goals in a 2-0 Trevians win over previously-unbeaten Evanston.Â
Evanston boys gymnastics’ Erik Van Leer continues to rack up gaudy numbers. He won the all-around of Niles North’s John Cress Invitational on Saturday, registering a score of 53.050. He swept the horizontal bar (7.00), parallel bars (9.60), vault (9.35), still rings (8.80), pommel horse (8.800) and floor (9.50), as the Wildkits won the event with 147.500 team points.Â
Glenbrook North girls lacrosse’s Rachel Rizzi netted 3 goals and had 4 assists in a 20-10 triumph vs. Deerfield. She also notched 2 goals vs. Warren and a goal and an assist vs. Montini.
Meghan Kennelly, a freshman goalkeeper for Maine South girls lacrosse, recorded 10 saves in a 12-4 win over Stevenson.Â
TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Glenbrook North softball grabbed a 4-3 extra innings win over Maine South, their first win over the Hawks since at least 2017, per MaxPreps (MaxPreps, scheduled were inconclusive past that season). The Spartans also defeated Amundsen 18-14 and Niles North 8-2. Sami Taylor, Megan Dunbar and Molly McAnally whacked dingers in the victory over Amundsen and North. A game with New Trier was delayed in the midst of an 8-8 tie according to the team’s Gamechanger account.Â
New Trier baseball defeated Niles West 3-0, Evanston (12-2, 5-4) and Barrington 6-4 last week. In the 5-4 win over Evanston, the Trevians scored 4 in the bottom of the 7th to earn a walk-off victory, which concluded on James Novakovic’s game-winning single. Justin Wood hurled a 66-pitch complete-game shutout in the win over Niles West.
Evanston boys water polo won the Glenbrook South Boys Water Polo Tournament, defeating St. Charles North 10-3, Hersey 15-3, Palatine 7-4 and GBS 8-4. Â Rijad Dizdarevic tallied 10 saves in the final vs. GBS.
Deerfield boys lacrosse defeated Highland Park 16-2, Glenbrook South 10-8 and Prospect 18-6.Â
Niles West’s boys tennis team won the Willowbrook Invite.Â
GRAD CATCHUPS
Caden Herron, a Glenbrook South graduate, has excelled for the College of Lake County baseball team. Though the statistics don’t appear to be up-to-date, Herron was listed as having a team-high .389 batting average after 14 games. CLC’s webite lists the Lancers as having a 19-13 record.
New Trier graduate Nevan Cremascoli, currently attending NIU where he was a member of the foootball team, has entered the transfer portal.
Maine South graduate Tommy Brady qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 5,000 meter run. Classic Chicago Magazine wrote about Brady back in March.

In a battle of state powers, Highland Park boys tennis defeated Deerfield 4-3 on the backs of 4 doubles team victories.
Glenbrook South boys track and field won the Dan Horyn Invite at Niles North and New Trier boys track and field won the Conference Clash at Minooka.
New Trier boys water polo was ranked No. 2 in the latest (April 18) Illpolo Blog rankings, behind only Naperville North.
30 New Trier athletes signed to compete collegiately last week.
Evanston girls water polo was ranked No. 3 in Illpolo Blog’s rankings as of April 18. New Trier was 6th and Maine West was 10th.
Deerfield boys lacrosse runs an excellent Instagram account that I hadn’t seen until this weekend (@DHSBOYSLACROSSE).
Tre Himes, who previously attended Maine West and now attends Maine East, committed to North Country Community College.
