CSLV: Trevians State Soccer Champs; Hawks Remain on Gridiron
State swim qualifiers, volleyball ends.
OF NOTE
I have been updating a list of full-season highlight film from Central Suburban League varsity football players. I’ll hold onto it until Maine South’s season is finished so as to have completed highlights from players on every team. With that said, if you want your highlights from Hudl included, please email me at kalebcarter4256@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter/X, @Kaleb_M_Carter.Â
Football note: I just completed my 4th season on the staff of Highland Park football and feel truly privileged to have worked around a group that I’ve seen blossom from their covid-shortened freshman season to earning the program’s first playoff victory since 2009.Â
There’s a million things I could say to that group, but for now, just feeling an immense sense of appreciation to them for their work and getting to be part of what they’ve done.Â
Now, on to wrestling season.Â
BOYS SOCCER
Once again in the fall sports season, the New Trier Trevians are state champions! This time, it’s the boys soccer that the Trevians faithful are celebrating. New Trier defeated Lyons Township 3-1 in the title game Saturday evening at Hoffman Estates High School. That followed a 2-0 victory over Glenbrook North, which gave New Trier its lone loss on Sept. 11.
GBN finished 4th after a 5-2 loss to Naperville North.Â

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Ben Crane’s 3rd-place individual 3A performance led New Trier to 7th in the state, with Highland Park not too far behind in 10th place at this past week’s state championships at Detweiler Park in Peoria.
Other all-state finishers in the conference were Evan Parker (14th for NN, 14:38.86) and Nate Wehner (24th for HP in 14:43.46). Per the Niles North track and field twitter/x account, Parker’s is the fourth fastest time in program history.Â

FOOTBALL
While close throughout, Maine South was able to fend off visiting Belleville East 33-21 to advance on to the state’s final 8 teams.
Michael Dellumo ran for 135 yards and a touchdown and also had 7 catches for 67 yards and 2 TDs. Evan Agosto also hauled in a touchdown catch from Constantine Coines, who threw for and ran for over 150 yards each.
Gavin Smith had a sack, 2 TFLs and had a hand in 7 tackles.
Highland Park’s season came to an end in a 49-29 loss to the Cary-Grove Trojans. Per The Record North Shore’s Marty Carlino, David Finfer threw for 311 yards and ran for 97. Nicholas Blumer led the Giants with 114 yards receiving. The Record covered the contest, you can see the article here. Finfer ran for a touchdown and threw 1 apiece to Nikko Rosenbloom, Johnny Walker and Andrew Cortes.
The Giants finished 7-4.Â
