4-11 — Hank Liss, Evanston baseball, No-hitter, 11K’s in an 11-1, 5-inning win over Highland Park
4-13 — Dylan Eckrote, Vernon Hills baseball, complete game shutout 3-hitter with 6K’s in a 1-0 win over Niles West.
4-14 — Morgan Gioia, Maine South girls track and field, at Wheaton North meet, on 2nd place 4x800, 2nd in 800 (2:22.82).
BOYS TENNISÂ
Glenbrook North won the Rockford Invite.Â

BADMINTON
Glenbrook South pulled out a close, 10-8 win at Evanston.
Evanston went on to win its home Doubles Invite. Vernon Hills took 3rd at the event, with their 1st doubles team taking 1st.Â
BOYS LACROSSE
Glenbrook South (7-2, 2-0) has the best record in the CSL after wins over Deerfield and Lakes last week.Â
GIRLS LACROSSE
Maine South earned an 18-12 win over Vernon Hills. Lizzy Eitel had 4 goals, 2 assists for the Cougars.Â
Sophia Gianaris had 2 goals, 3 assists for the Hawks, Hanna Brozell scored 3 goals with 1 assists while Milica Simic and David D’Alessandro added 3 goals apiece for the Victors.Â
Deerfield’s Samara Braunstein netted 5 goals and an assist in a 13-12 Warriors win over Lake Forest Academy.Â
BOYS WATER POLO
Maine East lost its first match (9-4 to Libertyville) after starting the season 11-0 (per MaxPreps).
Glenbrook North pulled out a 9-8 rivalry contest win over Glenbrook South.Â
GIRLS WATER POLO
New Trier came from behind 2 goals to defeat Evanston 6-4, and clipped a strong Maine West squad 11-10.Â
Highland Park won the 4-team Elk Grove Invite, winning three matches.Â
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Glenbrook North’s Paul Cho, a setter for the Spartans, was an all-tournament team honoree at Wheaton-Warrenville South’s Tiger Classic.Â
Niles North won its 3 matches in its home Viking Quad and defeated Niles West to winch pair’s traveling trophy.Â
Deerfield came back to defeat Maine East 20-25,25-21 25-16, led by 9 kills from Tyler Kustusch and 16 assists by Timothy O’Young.Â
Vernon Hills has started 3-0 in the CSL North.Â
Evanston defeated New Trier for the first time in 15 years, per Evanston athletics, 22-25, 28-26, 28-26
Maine East’s Joshua Lobont had 5 blocks and 3 kills in a loss to Vernon Hills.Â

Deerfield discus thrower Jeffery Lefkovitz busted out a huge PR of 41.58 in the Warriors’ home Rustbuster meet. Niles North’s John Heyden won the shot put with a mark of 14.07.
Harrison Erdman won the long jump high jump and triple jump at the event.
Dawid Turos won the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles for Deerfield.

Evanston finished runner-up to Lyons at the Lou Malnati’s Deep Dish Classic at New Trier.Â
Maine South has already recorded 6 shutouts through 9 games and has allowed just 5 goals.Â
Highland Park nabbed 3 straight victories after starting 0-5-1, thanks to a goal apiece from Mia Evans and Greta Ohlwein in wins over Maine West and Plainfield Central and then a 4-0 victory over Joliet Catholic Sunday in the BodyArmor Series.
Vernon Hills’ Ava Lukyan, a Kent State commit, netted 2 goals in a 4-1 victory over Grayslake North.Â
BASEBALL
Big stories from the week:
Evanston’s Hank Liss threw a 5-inning no-hitter with 11K’s in an 11-1 Wildkits win over Highland Park. He later his 2 homers in an 11-3 victory over Carmel.Â
New Trier whacked 5 homers and Justin Wood had 9K’s in a 12-0 win vs. Vernon Hills.Â
Max Kaplan threw a complete-game 1-hitter with 11 K’s in a 9-0 Trevians win over Deerfield.
Glenbrook South’s Jason Ban threw a 5-inning 1-hitter in a 13-0 win over Maine East. Â
Colin Roche’s 12 K’s and Kevin Geake’s winning run on a wild pitch gave GBN a 3-2 win over Deerfield. The Geake brothers (Kevin and Spencer) had quite the week, highlighted by an 11-1 win over Highland Park in which the brothers went a combined 7 for 7 and Spencer hit a home run.Â
Maine West’s Charlie Parcell continued his torrid start, throwing 6 shutout innings with 9K’s while going 4 for 4 at the plate with a double and a triple in an 8-4 win over Niles West.Â
James Dooman led Glenbrook South in a wild 19-14 victory over Lake Forest by smacking 2 home runs (1 inside-the-park), scored 3 runs and had 4 RBIs.
Maine South put up a ton of offense in a 24-7 win over Maine East. The Hawks had 6 extra base hits. The Blue Demons’ Jalen Moraga was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBIs and 2 runs in the loss.
SOFTBALL
Big stories from this week
Vernon Hills set the tone for a potentially strong slate going forward by breaking out the bats in a 13-4 win vs. Niles West. Cate Pangilinan also had 5 hits in a loss to Grant.Â
Kaitlyn Marsh had 17K’s in a 7-3 Maine West win over Maine East.Â
Maine South nabbed an 8-6 victory over Whitney Young with Sam Bergeron slapping the go-ahead hit.Â
Evanston won its first 2 games, victories over rolling Meadows and Niles North in which the Wildkits combined for 21 runs.Â
Genci Ortiz had a walk-off RBI in a 3-2 Niles West win over Evanston.
BOYS GYMNASTICS
Henry Morrison of Maine East took 6th in the all-around at Conant’s Ed Raymond Invite.
Evanston won a home triangular with Glenbrook North and Niles West, led by top 3 all-around finishes from Erik Van Leer (53.50), Jacob Potter (44.30) and Mo Frischer (44.00). Van Leer won every event.
RECORD ALERT
Evanston’s Miles Granjean broke 14 seconds in the 110 hurdles, setting a school record in the process.
GRAD CATCH-UPS
Maine South graduate Kevin Jarvis signed with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.Â
New Trier grad and current Northwestern baseball sophomore Alex Calarco has overcome a slow start to the season (no hits over first 21 plate appearances). He hit his first collegiate homer at home vs. UIC. Through Saturday, Calarco was hitting .308 with 9 extra base hits and 16 RBIs.
Glenbrook South grad Will Kelly is second in St. Olaf College men’s track history in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He was the first athlete at his college to break 9 minutes in the event since 1982.
