WOODBURY LEFT TREMENDOUS IMPACT
A New Trier legend and multi-time Hall of Famer, Bruce Woodbury passed away recently. Woodbury, a longtime teacher and swim coach for the Trevians, was named 2012 National High School Girls Swim Coach of The Year.
The ISA Hall of Fame Award is named after Woodbury for his numerous achievements as a long-time coach and contributor in and around the swimming pool.

5 SUMMER STANDOUTS
Glenbrook North’s Ariella Dobin has racked up wrestling accolades this summer, competing for Team Illinois National Dual Team in 16U, gaining Fargo All-American honors for Team Illinois in the 16U Freestyle division in the 124-pound weight class, (she took 6th) and was 8th nationally at the U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Nationals in the 54kg class of the U15 division. Here’s video of her 7th-place match at the event.
Maine South’s Aribella Spandiary, already a standout for the Hawks varsity flag football team, has had a strong summer for her softball team, Glory Fastpitch Softball. She hit .455 with a 1.045 OPS at the LP4U Stars & Stripes Tournament in Peoria a few weeks ago.
At the CSL’s annual lineman challenge, Niles West’s Emmanuel Olojo muscled his way to 32 bench receptions of 185 pounds.
New Trier’s Nika Dugandzic was selected to play in the 2025 All-American Bowl, which will be shown on NBC.
Deerfield boys cross country’s Ben Freedman ran the Detweiller at Dark race in 16:29.90 to lead his crew of teammates that went to run the race.

GRAD CATCHUPS
Evanston graduate Jasmine Wright has starred for Washington University (MO.) women’s track and field, and recently visited the White House to celebrate her team’s DIII title from the spring. Wright was an All-American in the 100 meters and 4x100. She is the program record-holder in the 100 and 60-meter dashes.
