Trevians thump Evanston in sectional final. GBS VB falls to eventual champion Glenbard West.
OF NOTE
As the summer nears and the end of spring sports is upon us, the Monday newsletters will be greatly reduced in stature, and I’ll be (trying) tom end out more bite-sized content on things like recruiting, interesting things from social media, etc.

BASEBALL
New Trier broke through for a 9-spot in the fourth inning of a dominant 11-0 victory at Evanston over the Wildkits to claim a sectional title Saturday. It was a packed house for both squads. Per the Record North Shore’s Marty Carlino, “the Trevians sent 13 hitters to the plate and had 10 hitters reach base during their fourth-inning explosion.”
It was all the more impressive as much of the damage was done against Wildkits ace Hank Loss, who is headed to Belmont University to play baseball.
Junior Trevians hurler Max Kaplan allowed just four hits in a five-inning outing.
Here are some of my photos from the game:
Here’s The Record North Shore’s Marty Carlino interviewing New Trier coach Mike Napoleon and Kaplan.
Evanston defeated Lane Tech 7-0 behind a strong performance on the hill by Eron Vega to reach the sectional final before falling to the Trevians.
SOFTBALL
Oak Park and River Forest ended the Maine South Hawks’ season in the sectional final 8-3. Hawks had beaten Lane Tech 4-1 on the same field to make the sectional final.
