NOTES AND PHOTOS: Glenbrook North Defeats Maine South for regional title

Glenbrook North boys volleyball coach Chris Cooper, recently inducted into the Illinois Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame, has had lots to celebrate in recent years. Winning the program’s lone boys volleyball state championship in 2021 (they were state runner-up twice prior), Cooper is coaching a group that’s had success this season. All that to go with 550+ boys wins and over 250 girls wins, Cooper knows winning volleyball.

GBN won its 22nd game in a regional final win over Maine South at Maine West and set up a sectional semifinal game Saturday at home with Loyola Academy.

I was primarily covering the match for Journal & Topics Media (Niles Journal and Park Ridge Journal), but also caught up with Cooper afterward.
