Q&A: Maine West's Parcell Commits To NIU
The outfielder/pitcher prospect will play his college baseball in DeKalb.
Class of 2023 multi-sport Maine West Warrior Charlie Parcell accouned his intention to play cllege baseball at Northern Illinois University.
CSLV: What were the biggest factors in making your decision to head to NIU?
CP: “I really like the coaches, enjoyed all the different parts of the school and got to talk to a few guys already on the team when I was there. I really like the opportunity I’m going to have at NIU.”
CSLV: What positions do you think you’ll play there? And how long have you wanted to play baseball at a higher level?
CP: “I’m going there as an outfielder and playing at the college level has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid.”
CSLV: What have been the biggest, most necessary steps or improvements you’ve had to make the last few years to reach the D1 level?
CP: “Continuing to repeat movements, and become more athletic. Taking advice from coaches, hanging around a good group of people, and continuing to trust my ability to be successful.”
CSLV: For the last few seasons of varsity ball, what accomplishments are you most pleased with?
CP: I was really pleased with how I played as a junior. I was all-conference, all-area, and CSL Player of the Year. I believe it really helped me get my name out there. And I’m looking forward to hopefully having some team success in my last season.
