Schulman Off to Hot Start For Cougars
Pair of Lee and Schulman has Cougars seeing their potential
Lexi Schulman’s first-place finish was just the start of what the Vernon Hills senior hopes is a memorable season for the Cougars. Already with an all-state performance under her belt in 2019 (tied for fifth) — she tied for 14th in 2021 — Schulman is setting goals for herself.
“(Win) a couple tournaments/invites, shoot an average of one over par for the nine-hole matches, win regionals and sectionals, and make top 5 at state,” Schulman said. “Some mental goals I have set are to stay present, stay committed to my swing, and have more confidence in myself. I have been trying to have a more focused practice whether that means focusing on one specific part of my swing or adding pressure to myself by doing drills/games so I know how to play with pressure.”
Schulman’s top highlight of the season was taking first at the Lake County Invite at Bittersweet Golf Club. She shot a -1, 70 to tie for first, which marked her best score since she shot a 67 as a freshman.
