Senior Spotlight: Clayton Krasinski, Wildkits Seeing Results of 4-Year Run
Captain leading Evanston to memorable CSL run.
Clayton Krasinski put an exclamation mark on a recent Evanston boys bowling victory (3,557-3,498) over Glenbrook North. To Krasinski, who bowled a 300 game against the Spartans, this has been a long-time coming. The win punctuates an 8-match winning streak, with Krasinski currently averaging 216.9 per game in the CSL, which was 2nd in the league per his coaches.
In the same matchup, Caleb DeSavieu rolled a high game of 276 and Graham KcKee had a 279. On other days, Kaelexx Oats has been the leading bowler for the Wildkits.
“Clayton is clearly a leader on our team, a pleasure to coach and a fan favorite,” assistant coach Dale Leibforth said. “As one of two seniors on a young team, we rely on his leadership and energy for our success. He was definitely a key element of our historic week.”
CSLV: can you describe the feeling of having the first known 300 in Wildkits program history?
CK: “It’s pretty neat. The coolest part for me was seeing the reaction from past members who have helped to build the ETHS bowing community. Our bowling program has grown a lot over the past few years, and having the first 300 feels like I was able to show how far we have come as a program.”
CSLV: I know you guys are on a nice winning streak now, what has the sustained winning been like for you and your teammates?
CK: “It's a lot of fun to beat teams that have historically crushed us, but we have been focusing on not becoming complacent. This is a new team this year. I am the only one left over from last year's varsity. It is a great group of guys and we are gelling together more as a team with each win we've celebrated and challenges we face.”
CSLV: How long have you bowled and when did you begin to take it seriously?
CK: “I started bowling my freshman year totally green, and I really started taking seriously sophomore year.”
