Deerfield’s Ryder Coleman notched 3 goals and 3 assists over two victories against Antioch and Grayslake North. He is the third CSL Varsity Newsletter Player of the Week, and second to earn the award from Deerfield.

Football
Maine East snapped a 42-game losing streak, winning its first game since 2017 when the Blue Demons won 13-6 over Round Lake.
Maine West adapted to a late schedule change, getting Zion-Benton to come to town and earned a shutout victory, 17-0. Yusef Awad scored both Blue Demons touchdowns.
Niles West’s Crosstown Classic win streak stretched to two as the Wolves defeated Niles North 27-14.
Vernon Hills pulled close in the third quarter, but came up just short in a 14-13 loss to Lakes. Ben Choi rushed for 95 yards.
Glenbrook South’s late 2-pt. conversion helped clinch a 15-14 road win at Sandburg.
Evanston didn’t have the answers in a 42-17 loss to Libertyville. The Wildkits moved the ball to the tune of 21 fist downs and outgained Livertville 310-302.
New Trier’s offense couldn’t get going in a 35-7 loss to Stevenson.
Highland Park shut out Hubbard in a 49-0 win. Emmet Pulte recovered 2 fumbles and had a receiving touchdown, Nikko Rosenbloom ran for 2 scores and Nicholas Blumer caught 2 touchdown passes. David Finfer completed all 10 of his passes and threw for 3 TDs. The Giants compiled 11 tackles for loss.
Maine South led 10-0 in the fourth, but ultimately fell to a powerful Warren squad, 19-17.
Glenbrook North took down Deerfield 23-13.
Cross Country
The Maine South boys took first at Lyons Township’s Mike Kuharic Invitational. Luca Arcuri’s time of 15:59.99 earned him third, while Joseph Karlesky’s 16:14.11 helped him to place seventh. The Hawks finished with 61 team points, 6 ahead of second-place Lyons.
Highland Park’s Nate Wehner had the second quickest time among juniors and was eighth overall at Hinsdale Hornet/Red-Devil Invite. Coach Steve Buti said Wehner’s 15:20.9 was the quickest time for a Giant ever on that course. New Trier took fourth, led by Ben Crane in 16th.
Glenbrook South was led by Andy Ordway’s 10th place finish in 17:32.00 at the Crystal Lake South XC Invitational. GBS took fourth in the team standings.
Two Glenbrook North Spartans girls were listed among the ILXCTF top 3A girls, those being sophomores Juliet Frum and Maria Polyakov.
Volleyball
Vernon Hills went 4-1 at the Grayslake Central Ram Slam, where senior middle blocker Alexa Cieslinski led the way with 34 kills and 13 blocks. Coach Chris Curry said that Cieslinski’s move to middle blocker, despite being a natural outside hitter, helps his team to get its best players on the floor and in the rotation.
Golf
Top CSL performers at the BG Golf Invite at Buffalo Grove golf club were New Trier’s Tyler Greenspan and Glenbrook South’s Jeffrey Kim, both of who shot a 70. Glenbrook North won the team title with a 293.

Tennis
Niles North took fourth place out of 16 teams at the Springfield Invite.
Sobia Shethwala took first in singles, while Kailey Marks and Chris Pak earned top honors in #2 doubles.
Soccer
Vernon Hills’ Milan Raval scored 2 goals in a 2-1 victory over Harvard and Alex Arbutina scored 2 more in a 3-1 win over Grant to claim the Grant Invite title.
Theo Franzen, Colin Gottshall and Evan Kanellos each earned all-tournament honors as New Trier finished second to Lyons at the Northside College Showcase. Kanellos leads the Trevians with 5 goals.
Swim & Dive

Lacrosse
New Trier has hired Adam Dickson to lead its stories boys lacrosse program.
Basketball
Niles North graduate Damaria Franklin is headed to his third college, transferring to Memphis after stops at UIC and Tennessee Tech. Franklin averaged 17.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game with the Flames last season.
Graduates
Evanston graduate Kamau Ransom (Class of 2022) scord 2 TDs in a 57-0 University of Indy win vs. St. Xavier.
